Teresa Arruda Alvim criticizes the use of precedents to block resources.

In an interview with Migalhas , Teresa Arruda Alvim assesses the 10 years of validity of the CPC/15 ( Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure of 2015), arguing that the system of precedents should be used so that it fulfills its predominant purpose, which is to generate a more predictable law and a more peaceful society.

Teresa also believes that the reduction in the workload of the courts is a desirable and inevitable consequence, but it is not the main purpose of the precedent system.

"No law has the power to transform reality, reducing the damage caused on a large scale, nor the potential to make people more ethical. But, to the extent that a new code can effectively generate positive changes in reality, I think that has happened."
